Unwanted forward to return to Tangerines.
QPR striker DJ Campbell is set to return to Blackpool after being omitted from the Hoops’ 25-man squad for the coming Premier League season.
The 30-year-old failed to secure a permanent move away from Loftus Road before the close of the transfer window on Friday evening but can still join a Championship club on loan and favour a return to Bloomfield Road.
After two loan spells at the club, journey Campbell joined Blackpool for a club record fee of £1.25m in summer 2010 and had a terrific season in the Premier League, netting 13 times. He was unable to prevent the Tangerines from being relegated however and consequently joined newly-promoted QPR the following summer.
But the speedy front-man has struggled to rediscover his form in west London and has made just 11 league appearances for the R’s – most from the bench.
Campbell is now set to link up with former boss Ian Holloway and the move should be finalise by next week, reports London24.
