Everton defender not contacted by United during the summer.
Everton left-back Leighton Baines has claimed he heard nothing from Manchester United over the summer despite reports constantly linking United with a move for him.
Baines, 27, is set to start for England at left-back in Friday’s World Cup Qualifier in Moldova in place of the injured Ashley Cole and Manchester United boss Sir Alex Feruson is a long-term admirer of the defender.
Yet, while Ferguson made enquiries to Everton about the player’s availability during the summer, he was put off by the price demanded by the Toffees and the transfer window slammed shut without an offer materialising, according to Sky Sports.
Everton fans will be delighted that they held on to the hard-working left-back who has been a quality servant to the club since joining from Wigan in 2007, and will hope that further interest from United and other sides will be rebuffed in the future.
Baines has gained 10 England caps since his 2010 debut.
