Playmaker wanted by City and Juventus.
Fiorentina have told prize-asset Stevan Jovetic that he can leave the club at the end of this season.
Jovetic was linked with a move away from the Viola this summer, with Manchester City and Juventus both thought to be lining up a move for the Montenegro international.
But the Serie A outfit held onto the 22-year-old, reportedly fearing a backlash from supporters if he was sold, particularly after promising defender Matija Nastasic did join City.
“The fact that he has stayed is the most beautiful thing. He has remained and is also happy,” Fiorentina general manager Sandro Mencucci said when the transfer window shut. “Was he close to leaving? There were requests but it was very good of my president to convince him to stay.”
But it is understood that Jovetic only agreed to remain in Florence on the condition that he can leave next summer.
“Fiorentina have worked out a deal with him,” a source told Goal.com. “They said, ‘Stay another year so we can plan for your departure at the end of the season’. They did the same thing with Luca Toni the year before he left.”
