Anfield boss keen on former Liberty Stadium charge.
Pepsy challenge: Rodgers gives Reina until January to secure his Liverpool future
Spanish keeper has struggled to adapt to the new manager’s style and has already dropped a couple of clangers this season
Pepe Reina has until January to show Brendan Rodgers he can fit into the new Liverpool and stop the club searching for a rival first-choice goalkeeper.
And Liverpool have moved to try to avoid future transfer deadline disasters by attempting to complete their new recruitment set-up ahead of schedule.
Rodgers could look for a promising up-and-coming keeper to put pressure on Reina. But if the 30-year-old does not improve, then he will also consider trying to take his former Swansea keeper, 28-year-old Michel Vorm, to Anfield.
Liverpool are confident they will perform much better in the January transfer window and will immediately start work on identifying targets.

Whilst it’s true that Pepe Reina has not started the current campaign all that well the Spaniard is still one of the best custodians in the English top tier so any talk of Brendan Rodgers considering offloading the 30 year old seem a little hard to take seriously.
In terms of adapting to Rodgers’ style of play, one assume this relates to the manner in which Reina deals with distribution from the back. The Liverpool keeper was always adept at finding a team-mate down field with an accurate kick but perhaps the new Anfield manager is looking for the experienced goalkeeper to begin moves from the back in a more sedate floor-bound manner.
This would surely not be all that hard to teach Reina but may take time to get used to.
A move for Dutch keeper Michel Vorm may well still be a decent idea as Liverpool could well do with a better back-up option to keeper Pepe Reina on his toes as neither Doni or Brad Jones appear to be threatening the Spanish international for his starting spot.
The Swansea City goalie had a very successful first season at the Liberty Stadium following his move from Utrecht and given that Rodgers was the man to bring the Dutch international to the English top tier it would appear plausible that the Northern Irishman would be interested in luring him to Merseyside. Michael Laudrup may have other ideas on the matter though.
