Player had been set to join Sunderland on deadline-day loan but move fell through.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas looks set to join Leeds United on loan after being informed by Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas that he doesn’t feature in his plans.
The former England midfielder was sent out on a season-long loan at Aston Villa last season only to rupture his achilles tendon in December which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
He returned to Spurs and began pre-season training with them over the summer, but new boss Villas-Boas has informed Jenas that he will be unlikely to feature much this season and has given him permission to go out on loan in order to kick-start his career, according to Metro.
The 29-year-old had looked set to join Sunderland on a season-long loan deal only for the deal to collapse on transfer deadline day due to the fact that fellow Spurs teammate Danny Rose had already headed to the Stadium Of Light, with rules stipulating that a club cannot loan more than one player from the same club.
Leeds boss Neil Warnock is keen to have the midfielder, who has been capped 21 times by England, on board at Elland Road and is hoping the deal will be finalised in the next few days.
Jenas has played 156 times for Spurs, scoring 21 goals.
