Emirates Stadium side push on with move to sign Anderlecht midfielder.
Arsenal in advanced Anderlecht talks over Biglia fee
Arsenal are keeping tabs on Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia.
The Argentine revealed the interest of Arsenal and Real Madrid over the summer, though remained with Anderlecht when the deadline fell last month.
Dutch sources say Arsenal have been locked in talks with Anderlecht about a fee for Biglia, which is now close to being agreed ahead of the January transfer window.
By all accounts details of a supposed bid from Arsenal for Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia over the summer were in fact part of a hoax concocted by the player’s agent and one has to wonder if this isn’t more of the same.
The 25 year old has spent the past six years in Belgium and his performances have been such that he has still managed to find his way into the national team set-up despite plying his trade in a relatively low level league.
Biglia may be the player Arsene Wenger looks to land in order to add more steel to his North London side’s midfield, something that has become all the more crucial following the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona.
Though Abou Diaby has performed well thus far this term, the Frenchman is famously inconsistent and the addition of more strength in depth in this area would be wise.
Biglia has notched up over 200 appearances for Brussels based side Anderlecht, winning three domestic titles in the process and picking up seven national team caps and is part of Alejandro Sabella’s current World Cup qualifying squad and very much a player on the up.
