Emirates Stadium boss lines up potential list of new additions.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who is set to be offered a contract extension, will be handed significant funds in the January transfer window as he looks to strengthen his Emirates Stadium squad.
Such moves will depend greatly on how the North London club are faring when the transfer window re-opens but it is believed that the Arsenal board are keen to bring an end to the club’s silverware drought and are keen to appease supporters after a seven year run without tangible success.
Despite the addition of three high-profile additions in the shape of Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla the Gunners still completed the summer transfer window having made a profit. Wenger saw Alex Song and Robin Van Persie leave for Barcelona and Man United respectively and the French manager also saw funds accrued from the sales of squad players Carlos Vela, Henri Lansbury and Kyle Bartley.
Mathieu Debuchy features high up on Wenger’s wish-list as he looks to beef up his defensive options having seen an injury crisis continue to bite. Last term Arsenal lost the services of Bacary Sagna, Carl Jenkinson, Keiran Gibbs and Andre Santos which left the club seriously short of full-back options and these issues persist.
Sagna has suffered two broken legs last season and Wenger is ready to make a move for Lille right-back Debuchy, who has also been targeted by Newcastle United, and the French international is apparently ready to call time on his Stade Metropole career.
It is thought that moves for the 26 year old are all the more likely given Bacary Sagna’s recent outbursts in relation to the sales of first team stars and the lack of contract negotiations.
