Spaniard to remain at Anfield, says agent.
Underfire Liverpool ‘keeper Pepe Reina is set to remain at Anfield, according to his agent.
Reina has been linked with a move away from Liverpool after a disappointing start to the season culminated in the 30-year-old dropping a clanger in the 2-0 defeat against Arsenal.
The Reds are reportedly eyeing Swansea stopper Michel Vorm and German international Marc-Andre ter Stege as potential replacements for the Spaniard and there have also been suggestions that Reina could leave Anfield in January, with AC Milan thought to be interested.
Reina currently lacks any competition for the number one jersey on Merseyside, although Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers did try to bring in Wolves custodian Dorus de Vries this summer.
But Reina’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon insists responsibility lies with the team and not his client, who is simply off-form.
“There is no problem. Pepe has played over 300 games in the shirt of Liverpool,” he is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
“It’s clear that he is not facing an easy time. The team has gone wrong in these first few games and he has his responsibilities, like everyone else.
“When he returns to form it (the speculation) will all end.
“He still has four years remaining on his contract and the rumours about a possible exit are only just rumours.”
