Portugese star an admirer of Spurs and boss Andre Villas-Boas.
Portugal and FC Porto star Joao Moutinho has claimed he was flattered by the interest from Tottenham in him over the summer and believes Andre Villas-Boas is one of the best coaches in Europe.
Spurs made a late attempt to land the playmaker on transfer deadline day, offering what would have been a club-record £22m transfer fee, but the deal could not be sealed before the transfer window closed.
New Spurs boss Villas-Boas was keen to land the player who had been so instrumental in helping his Porto side to a League, Cup and European treble in the 2010/11 season – a feat which included a undefeated campaign in the Portugese Primeira Liga, but was frustrated that a complication with a third-rights holder in the player meant the deal could not be completed in time.
With Moutinho inferring that he would still be interested in a move to the north London side to re-unite with his former boss, Spurs will be encouraged to go back for him in January in what would be a signing of real quality, according to Sky Sports.
Moutinho has been capped 48 times by his national side since his 2005 debut.
