Stamford Bridge side look to strengthen attacking options.
Portuguese source Record report that Chelsea are lining up a €15m (£12m) bid for Marseille striker Loic Remy.
The Blues spent over £80m in the summer on some exciting young additions to strengthen a Stamford Bridge squad that owner Roman Abramovich will hope can push on from last term’s Champions League triumph and push on towards a Premier League title. However the West London club did not bring in any new striking options.
Roberto Di Matteo saw Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba leave the club and now has to count a great deal on Fernando Torres to maintain a prolific goal-scoring presence, which he has managed to do thus far this term. His only real support comes in the form of Daniel Sturridge, a player that the current Chelsea boss doesn’t appear to have a great deal of faith in.
Therefore a move for French international Loic Remy makes a great deal of sense. The former Nice man has been a consistent performer since he moved to the Stade Velodrome with the 25 year netting 17 goals in his first term at Marseille and 20 last season in all competitions.
If Chelsea could land the speedy forward for a fee of £12m then they will have done a great bit of business but one would imagine that the Ligue 1 side, though reportedly cash-strapped, would demand more for Loic Remy.
