Anfield side keen on Austrian international with an eye for goal.
Italian source CalcioMercato are reporting that Liverpool are keen on Stuttgart forward Martin Harnik.
Brendan Rodgers was left light up front after Liverpool were unable to bring in a late addition to boost his Anfield attacking options and now the Northern Irishman will be looking at possible January additions to help improve his side’s firepower and a move for Austrian international Harnik would be a wise one to consider.
The 25 year old German born attacker has enjoyed a successful time since his move from Werder Bremen to the Mercedes-Benz Arena, scoring 36 goals in 84 appearances and providing 22 assists for good measure.
Harnik’s efforts last term helped hoist Bruno Labbadia’s side to a sixth place finish last term but this term hasn’t started all that well for Stuttgart, with the Baden-Wurttemberg based side collected just one point from three Bundesliga fixtures.
Liverpool have similarly struggled for form this term and the addition of another attacking option, to support the club’s two recognised senior forwards Luis Suarez & Fabio Borini, could well prove crucial come January, depending on whether the Merseyside club is still unable to convert good performances into wins.
Harnik is an adaptable attacker who can play out wide but is most commonly used as an orthodox striker.
