Emirates Stadium side given extra impetus to complete forward signing.
Ladbrokes.com are today reporting that Athletic Bilbao forward Fernando Llorente was involved in a training ground bust-up which has left his career at the San Mames side very much hanging in the balance.
This source goes on to state that Arsene Wenger is watching the situation very carefully ahead of a possible move for a player who is apparently a long term target of the North London side.
Given Olivier Giroud’s very average start to life at the Emirates Stadium and the fact that Arsenal do not have a great many striking alternatives, a move for a player of Fernando Llorente’s obvious ability would be a wise one to consider, especially as the 27 year old would available ‘on the cheap’ do to being in the last year of his contract.
The big forward would suit life in the English top tier but has the touch and vision to make it at Arsenal. The Pamplona born marksman netted 29 goals in all competitions last term and has been a consistent force in La Liga for the past four or five seasons.
Currently Wenger can call upon Lukas Podolski and the aforementioned Giroud as his main striking options but beyond this pair it gets a pitch patchy in terms of effective attacking weapons. Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young have both been loaned out and Carlos Vela was sold to Real Sociedad. Marouane Chamakh has been woeful for 18 months and therefore Arsenal could certainly do with a player who can weigh in with a solid goal tally.
