Old Trafford forward starting to become surplus to requirements.
Sir Alex Ferguson considering move to take Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski to Manchester United
Manchester United are monitoring Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski ahead of a potential summer move amid uncertainty over the Old Trafford futures of Nani and Javier Hernández.
While Hernández signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford last October, the Mexican forward has struggled for form since scoring 20 goals in his debut season at United in 2010-11.
Hernández has subsequently slipped to fourth choice striker, behind Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck, and another disappointing campaign could trigger his departure from the club.
The reasoning behind the possible sale of Javier Hernandez is pretty sensible. The Mexican international had a wonderful first season at Old Trafford, exceeding everyone’s expectations but in reality setting himself up for a fall. The past 18 months have seen the 24 year old go off the boil and now the speedy striker seems set for an extended period of bench-warming and that may not be in the best interests of either Man United or the player himself.
The Guadalajara born marksman is at the age where it’s crucial he retains regular first team football and that simply is not going to happen at Man United. Sir Alex Ferguson will almost always opt for either Robin Van Persie or Wayne Rooney, or both, for any meaningful fixture, and whilst youngster Danny Welbeck can ply his trade in a wide attacking role Chicharito is simply far more one-dimensional.
Hernandez could easily find first team football at a number of top level clubs but there simply doesn’t seem to be space for the Mexican to grow and mature at Man United, if anything his career is now beginning to move backwards and if by January, or at a push by next summer, the situation has not improved then he really should look to make his move away from the Premier League side.
Javier Hernandez has started just two of Man United’s last 11 Premier League matches and the signs are that the situation is not likely to get any better.
Chicarito has made a total of 88 appearances for Man United, of which 36 came from the bench, and has netted 33 goals in the process.
