Anfield side linked with move for French international.
Liverpool are said to be interested in PSG striker Kevin Gameiro who has struggled to secure a regular spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s first team picture since the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swedish international has forced the 25 year old out of the starting eleven and onto the bench and this has led to speculation that the French international could be considering his future at the Parc des Princes side.
PSG paid £9m to sign the speedy striker from Lorient in the summer of 2011 and though he struggled for form during patches of the campaign Gameiro did still register 11 Ligue 1 goals for the big spending side.
However the signing of Ibrahimovic has meant that Kevin Gameiro has made just one start in PSG’s first seven league matches this term and even though he netted twice when handed a spot in Ancelotti’s starting line-up against Sochaux, the striker can expect to be forced back out of contention in due course.
The fact that Ancelotti also brought in Napoli forward Ezeqiuel Lavezzi suggests that the former Chelsea boss doesn’t see Gameiro as part of his striking plans.
Liverpool could certainly do with attacking reinforcements as currently the Merseyside outfit lacks firepower and Rodgers has just two recognised senior strikers in his squad, Luis Suarez and unproven Italian Fabio Borini.
Gameiro earned his move to PSG following a successful spell at Lorient during which he scored 50 goals in 108 Ligue 1 matches, form that also earned him a spot in the French national team and thus far eight international caps.
