Serie A giants want Stamford Bridge defender.
Italian source CalcioMercato report that AC Milan may be tempted to make a move for Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole.
The 31 year old is in the final year of his contract and is likely to only be offered a single year extension, as is club policy for Chelsea players over the age of 30, and as such the England international may look to leave Stamford Bridge and pursue a move elsewhere.
AC Milan may well be looking at cost-effective additions to their squad given that owner Silvio Berlusconi appears to be looking to balance the books at the San Siro having sold Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to AC Milan over the summer and a move for Cole could make financial sense, though the player may well demand a hefty salary.
The Italian side could elect to make a January offer for the former Arsenal man in order to beat the rush that may well ensue if the player runs down his contract or the Rossoneri may choose to wait until the summer and battle it out with other prospective suitors.
Chelsea appear to be looking to build for the future and clearly have no qualms about allowing veterans to leave on completion of their contract, as evidenced by Didier Drogba’s departure for Shanghai Shenhua.
