Stamford Bridge side pursue a number of potential additions.
German source 4-4-2.com report that Chelsea are to make a €6m (£4.8m) bid for Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The West London side could well do with attacking alternatives and the chance to land the experienced Dutch international ‘on the cheap’ could be too good to resist. The 29 year old is in the final year of his contract and as such Schalke may well look to make some money from the player’s sale in preference to losing the player for nothing next summer.
Roberto Di Matteo currently has just two recognised strikers in his squad, inconsistent Spaniard Fernando Torres and young England international Daniel Sturridge, and the Stamford Bridge boss would welcome an addition to boost numbers up front and though Chelsea have had an eye for youthful additions of late they could well do with a proven finisher to add strength in depth to their attack.
Huntelaar netted an astonishing 48 goals in 47 matches in all competitions last term and has four this term and could well be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
The former Ajax man struggled at Real Madrid and AC Milan before re-igniting his career in the Bundesliga.
