Old Trafford set sights on Colombian forward;
According to Italian source CalcioMercato Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to use Mexican forward Javier Hernandez as bait in his pursuit of FC Porto striker James Rodriguez.
The Old Trafford boss has been linked with interest in the Colombian international for some months now so it’s no big surprise that the Scot would be willing to use Chicharito in his push to bring in the speedy FC Porto man. The former Banfield man took a while to get going at the Estadio do Dragao but after a shaky first season the youngster netted 13 times last term.
Javier Hernandez promised a great deal when he first broke into the Man United first team but over the past 18 months the Guadalajara born speedster has experienced a big drop in form and following the arrival of Robin Van Persie he has moved to fourth choice striker at the Premier League club.
Wayne Rooney, Van Persie and Danny Welbeck are all ahead of the Hernandez and therefore the forward may well be open to a move away in order to secure regular first team football.
Ferguson has made a habit of bringing in players from the Primeira Liga in recent years with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson and Bebe all making similar moves to Man United from the Portuguese top tier.
