By all accounts Steven Gerrard has been pursued by a number of sides but as yet has not been tempted into leaving Anfield and this latest declaration will certainly please the Liverpool faithful, who have seen the veteran gain a new lease of life over the past nine months.
The 32 year old Whiston born midfielder has been a superb servant of his hometown club, notching up 596 appearances and 152 goals for Liverpool since his debut in November 1998.
Whilst Premier League success has not been forthcoming Gerrard has helped his side to a Champions League triumph, as well as a runners-up medal. Two FA Cup successes and a trio of League Cup winners medals to boot.
Gerrard appears to still has a few seasons in the tank and Brendan Rodgers will look to the mercurial talent to help get the most out of his younger team-mates.
