Striker Edin Dzeko insists he has no interest in leaving Manchester City.

The 26-year-old, who joined from Wolfsburg last January, is once again being linked with a move away from the club, despite an impressive start to the season, with City seemingly scouting around for striking reinforcements.

“Every time I see a paper, for what seems like a year or more there is a story saying that I am leaving City, or that I want to go,” Dzeko said.

“But I’ve never said that so the stories don’t come from me. I’ve always wanted to stay at City and fight for my place.

“My motto has always been ‘Never give up’.”

Edin Dzeko has insisted that he wants to stay at Manchester City, amid speculation linking him with a move to Juventus, and his remarks should be music to the ears of Citizens fans.

The Bosnian forward looked likely to be sold this summer, despite scoring 16 times in his debut Premier League season last campaign and generally impressing – barring a barren spell after the new year.

There were signs that Dzeko would be even better after he’d had a year to bed in and this season he has already scored three times in the Premier League, and against Real Madrid in the Champions League, despite being used mainly a substitue.

Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero are City’s first-choice forward pairing but there is a compelling argument that Dzeko deserves a run in the team.

The 26-year-old offers more physical and ariel presence, albeit with less subtly, than the Argentinian duo and his goal record is no less impressive.

There are a number of clubs across Europe who would bite of City’s hand if offered the chance to sign the former Wolfsburg striker and boss Roberto Mancini could well live to regret letting Dzeko go, if the Italian does decide to sell.

Thankfully for City, Dzeko’s latest comments suggest an Eastlands exit is not on his mind and the big striker can now concentrate on scoring even more goals.
