Gunners boss keen on Etihad Stadium forward.
According to Goal.com Arsenal have shown a real interest in signing Man City striker Edin Dzeko as the North London club look to boost their somewhat threadbare attack.
Arsene Wenger would do well to lure the Bosnian international to the Emirates Stadium but the promise of regular first team football could well tempt the former Wolfsburg man who has consistently failed to secure a spot in Roberto Mancini’s starting eleven for more than a game or two at a time, and even then more often than not only due to injuries suffered by other striking options.
26 year old forward Dzeko has netted 30 goals in 74 appearances since his £27m move to the Etihad Stadium, a solid scoring record especially when you consider that 32 of those appearances were coming from the bench.
Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez are still ahead of Dzeko in Mancini’s pecking order and the big forward may well wonder what he has to do to persuade the Italian to offer him a more commanding role in the Man City attack.
Arsene Wenger has just two recognised strikers in his squad, summer signings Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, and this source states that back-up options Marouane Chamakh, Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young do not have a future at Arsenal, leading even more room for a fresh attacking option.
Clearly any move for Dzeko would be pricey but Wenger has reportedly been handed a £35m transfer kitty which could be used to land the in-form forward.
