Anfield side keen on St James’ Park marksman.
Liverpool hit the Ba as Rodgers wants £7m Newcastle hitman to fire up attack
Liverpool are ready to turn to in-form Newcastle star Demba Ba in their search for a striker after being warned off top target Son Heung-min.
The Liverpool manager knows Ba, 27, would fit easily into his side’s style of play and arrive with a proven goalscoring record in the Barclays Premier League.
Securing the Senegal forward’s release from Newcastle should be straightforward, after it emerged a £7million get-out clause in his contract kicks in again in the January transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers Liverpool attack was already looking threadbare before Fabio Borini, who is yet to make an impact in the Premier League, suffered an injury and a move to bring in Newcastle United striker Demba Ba is a sensible and cost effective one that could well come to fruition, dependent to a large extent on whether other sides look to trigger the Senegal international’s release clause.
The 27 year old former Hoffenheim and West Ham man has apparently been upset at Alan Pardew’s insistence on using him in a wide attacking role to accommodate international team-mate Papiss Cisse and the fact that the Magpies boss chose to publicly reiterate that Ba’s release clause was very much still in operation is proof enough that the relationship between the player and the St James’ Park club are by no means ideal.
The chances of Liverpool luring Demba Ba to Anfield depend a great deal on where the Merseyside club are in the Premier League table come January.
If Rodgers has been able to arrest the alarming slide the side are in at present and perhaps have them in mid-table or higher by the time the transfer window re-opens then perhaps the Newcastle United man would be interested in a move to the club.
However if Liverpool are still in or around the relegation zone then one would imagine any chance of snapping up the prolific marksman would be significantly reduced.
