Stamford Bridge side target Bernabeu forward.
Check-In to Tottenham v Chelsea
German outlet 4-4-2.com are today reporting that Chelsea are one of a number of sides tracking Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain as he considers his future at the Bernabeu outfit.
The 24 year old French born Argentine international has consistently been consigned to the Real Madrid bench as Jose Mourinho more often than not opts for Frenchman Karim Benzema but apparently being left out of the recent El Clasico has led to yet more speculation that the former River Plate man is looking to leave his La Liga side.
Despite not being a first choice option Higuain has scored goals with great regularity during his five year spell at Real Madrid, netting 111 goals in 237 appearances, a great many of which were cameo roles coming from the bench.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of potential striker signings as the West London side looks to deal with the departure of Ivory Coast veteran Didier Drogba.
Though Fernando Torres has started to get back into something like the form that persuaded the Blues to fork out £50m for his services, Roberto Di Matteo only has one other senior striking option to call upon, Daniel Sturridge, and is unlikely to look to bring Romelu Lukaku back from his loan spell at West Brom, having previously barely played the Belgian last term.
Higuain may well feel that his career is stagnating at Real Madrid and could welcome a move to the Premier League.
