Liverpool are very much a side planning for the long term but are also having to deal with the vagaries of the here and now. Brendan Rodgers is therefore seemingly looking for possible additions that can help push the Anfield side up the table towards the promised land of the top four whilst also hoping to secure players who are of a young age and have a high sell on value should the club have to re-think in the future. Jurgan Locadia fits the bill on both fronts.
The teenage striker made an instant impact in the PSV Eindhoven first team, netting a superb 11 minute hat-trick after coming on as a sub on his Eredivisie debut against VVV Venlo, a display that has led to a great deal of interest in the Dutch forward.
Rodgers currently has just two recognised senior strikers and the foot injury suffered by Fabio Borini has effectively halved this to just Uruguayan Luis Suarez.
Though the likes of Adam Morgan are coming through the Liverpool ranks there is certainly a need to beef up the club’s striking options and Locadia is seemingly a player with a bright future who is already making waves at the tender age of 18.
