Emirates Stadium side target Partizan Belgrade youngster.
Arsenal face a major fight to sign Serbian teenage star Lazar Markovic as a number of top European clubs are also chasing his signature.
Markovic has already been described as one of the best young talents in Europe and has been earning rave reviews for FK Partizan.
The talented forward has been attracting interest from Arsene Wenger and the north London club are expected to make their move for the 18-year-old.
But they will have to move quickly as Sevilla, Barcelona, Fiorentina and Roma are also following his progress and could step up their interest when the transfer window re-opens in January.
By all accounts Lazar Markovic is one of the hottest young prospects coming out of the Balkans and a player that has been linked with interest from a number of Premier League sides and now Arsenal appear to be the latest sniffing around the teenage midfielder.
The 18 year old was a key part of Partizan Belgrade’s domestic title triumph last term, making a total of 33 appearances last season and as a result forcing his way into the Serbian national team set-up.
The adaptable attacker works most effectively as a second striker and adopts something of a floating role in Vladimir Vermezovic’s side.
Arsene Wenger is of course renowned for his ability to make the most out of young talent and has a proven track record of taking unknowns and making them household names.
No doubt Markovic would be very interested in a move to North London though one wonders whether the Partizan starlet would perhaps get buried among the copious amount of youngsters coming through the Gunners academy and reserve team sides.
