Stamford Bridge side close in on La Liga goal machine.
TransferMarketWeb report that Chelsea are ready to fork out the €80m (£64m) needed to trigger Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao’s release clause.
As well as being ready to meet the Colombian’s release clause Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 26 year old Colombian hot-shot then it would appear that the West London side are half-way there in terms of their pursuit of the Atletico Madrid striker.
The Blues are keen on boosting their attacking options and despite the fact that Fernando Torres has begun to resemble the striker Chelsea paid £50m for the Spaniard is still by no means prolific and Roberto Di Matteo has very few alternatives to the former Liverpool man.
Radamel Falcao is one of the most in-form forwards in Europe and is certainly a big improvement on Torres. The former FC Porto man netted 36 goals in his first season at the Vicente Calderon and has notched up an incredible 12 goals in eight games this season, including of course a hat-trick against Chelsea in the European Super Cup Final.
Other than Torres Chelsea have only Daniel Sturridge and currently loaned out Romelu Lukaku to call upon, two players Di Matteo doesn’t appear to rate too highly, given that neither striker has had much of a look-in under the Italian’s reign.
