Anfield side hope to lure former Chelsea man back to the Premier League.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will make an extraordinary SOS call to Didier Drogba in a bid to sign the former Chelsea striker on a short-term deal, writes The People.
Drogba, 34, could be available to join a club in Europe as soon as the Chinese season ends next week. His club Shanghai Shenhua are believed to be willing to rip up his contract, making Drogba a free agent and releasing him for a move back to the Premier League, on the understanding that he is welcome back in China for their new season.
If all goes well Drogba also has an option to sign a longer-term agreement at Anfield.

As a short term measure to boost Liverpool’s ailing attack a move to bring in Didier Drogba makes a great deal of sense. The 34 year old Shanghai Shenhua will be available in a week and could therefore be drafted in long before the January transfer window when Brendan Rodgers may look to bring in a more long term solution to the striking problem the Anfield side finds themselves in.
Currently the Merseyside club have just one senior striker available to them, Uruguayan Luis Suarez, as Fabio Borini is sidelined with a broken foot. Though Rodgers could call upon youngster Adam Morgan it’s clear that the Liverpool manager who prefer to have an experienced marksman on hand to help his side continue their decent run of form that followed an abysmal start to the current campaign.
Drogba is still fit and able to compete at the highest level, after all the former Chelsea man helped his Blues side to a Champions League final victory just over six months ago, a match where the Ivorian shone for 120 minutes.
The powerful forward has been a success since his move to the Chinese Super League, scoring eight goals in ten matches though his side sit in 11th place in the 16 team league with just one game to go.
