Anfield side linked with impressive young Ajax playmaker.
Ajax expect Liverpool to make an offer for their highly regarded forward Christian Eriksen in the January window.
The Denmark international, 20, has been extensively scouted by a number of Premier League clubs, but Liverpool have been his most enthusiastic suitors.
Eriksen, exceptional in Ajax’s midweek Champions League defeat of Manchester City, has less than two years remaining on his contract with the Dutch champions, whose business model revolves around nurturing exceptional talents before selling them on to more monied clubs at a profit.
While they would prefer to retain Eriksen for the remainder of the season, he will be sold if a bidder meets the €30 million asking price.

Christian Eriksen has certainly shown enough potential to justify the €30 (£24m) price-tag, helping Ajax to back to back domestic title. The Danish international has gone from strength to strength since breaking into the Eredivisie giant’s first team picture two years ago.
His recent Champions League displays are perhaps a further indication of how well the 20 year old is maturing and as is all to typical with players who excel in the Dutch top tier, a move to one of Europe’s big leagues is an absolute certainty. It’s more a question of when and not if.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers would certainly love to see a player of Eriksen’s calibre arriving at an Anfield side that is very much geared towards youthful potential with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Suso and Andre Wisdom featuring regularly in the first team this term.
However, will Liverpool’s American owners be willing to fund such a move?
Eriksen has amassed 123 Ajax first team appearances and is already the proud owner of two league titles and 30 national team cap, not bad for a player who won’t turn 21 until Valentine’s Day 2013.
