Spurs are keen to sign Blackpool and England under-21 winger Thomas Ince, fanatix understands.
With David Bentley on loan in Russia, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add pace and width to his squad and sees Ince as the perfect back-up for Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale.
Spurs had been tracking Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha but have been put off by interest from Arsenal and Man City, as well Palace’s £20m valuation.
It is understood that Blackpool are happy to settle for a much more modest fee in the region of £7m for 20-year-old Ince and Tottenham could swoop as soon as January.
Ince, son of former England midfielder Paul, was release by Liverpool as a youngster but has impressed under Ian Holloway’s tutelage at the Bloomfield Road since joining last year.
The right-sider has since made five appearances for the England under-21 side and has been tipped as a future Premier League star.
It seems Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Blackpool winger Thomas Ince.
The pacey 20-year-old was linked with a host of Premier League clubs over the summer, including Spurs, but remained with Blackpool to continue his development in the Championship.
Tottenham head-coach Andre Villas-Boas keen to add some additional width and creativity to his Spurs side, after missing out on top target Willian of Shakhtar Donetsk over the summer.
The Portuguese tactician remains interested in signing the Brazilian but the Ukrainians are understood to be holding out for £20m for their prized asset and, with Palace demanding a similarly extortionate fee for prodigal wide-man Wilfried Zaha, Spurs are looking at cheaper alternatives.
Ince has broken into the England under-21 set up in the past six months and, like Zaha, is seen as a future Premier League star.
But Spurs could face competition from the likes of Ince’s old club Liverpool and Fulham for the youngster, who the Tangerines value at close to £7m.
