White Hart Lane side want St James’ Park forward.
Papiss had a hand in Newcastle’s late winner against West Brom – but frustrations have got White Hart Lane side on alert for January
Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse’s frustration at St James’ Park is being monitored by Tottenham.
The Senegal star came off the bench to score the winner against West Brom yesterday. But he has struggled to repeat last season’s prolific form after losing his starting place.

Tottenham have perhaps overly depended on Jermain Defoe for an end product thus far this term but Andre Villas-Boas does have new signing Emmanuel Adebayor to use a back-up option but has steadfastly refused to do so this season, angering the Togo international who may wonder why the hell the White Hart Lane side bothered making his temporary move to the North London club a permanent one.
Having scored 13 goals in 13 starts following his £9m move from Freiburg to Newcastle United in January last term, the 27 year old has not fared so successfully during the current campaign. Indeed Papiss Cisse’s last gasp winner against West Brom on Sunday was his first Premier League goal of the season, despite having started seven of the Magpies nine top tier matches this term.
Alan Pardew would be loathed to lose Cisse and many would have expected Demba Ba to be the more likely Newcastle United striker to make an exit given that his £7.5m release clause is apparently very much active.
