White Hart Lane side target Nou Camp forward.
Tottenham are reportedly in talks with representatives of Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez in preparation for an ambitious move to sign the Chilean international. TransferMarketWeb claim that the North London side are interested in the Nou Camp star who has struggled to retain a consistent spot in Tito Vilanova’s starting eleven this season.
Andre Villas-Boas may feel his side lacks creativity in their attack though scoring goals has not been a problem though the Portuguese boss has steadfastly backed Jermain Defoe as the spearhead of his attack, with new signing Emmanuel Adebayor left to warm the bench.
One would imagine the addition of Alexis would further limit the Togo international’s chances of first team football though the former Arsenal man will be away on African Nations Cup duty for much of January and February and this may well be the reasoning behind the North London club looking to bring in attacking support.
Alexis has started four of the club’s nine La Liga matches this term but most notably was named on the bench for the first El Clasico of the campaign. Vilanova has a number of players available for wide attacking roles, with talents such as Pedro, Isaac Cuenca, Cesc Fabregas, David Villa and Andres Iniesta all capable of filling the spots either side of unstoppable Argentine Lionel Messi.
As yet Alexis Sanchez is yet to net in La Liga this term, further threatening his position in Vilanova’s plans.
