After an entertaining mid-week round of league cup matches, and a truly Guru-some Halloween, the country’s favourite Fantasy Football mastermind returns to share his wisdom with you all.
PLAYER OF LAST GAMEWEEK
Bryan Ruiz: Yes, Robin Van Persie may have top scored for the week but in terms of impact and value, Ruiz takes this prestigious gong. Fulham didn’t look like doing much against Reading last Saturday until the Costa Rican was introduced. Ruiz wonder-strike was the catalyst that brought the game to life, ending as a 3-3 thriller. Clearly bursting with talent, if Ruiz can just add consistency to his game he could become a bargain buy at £5.8m.
THE TWO HERNANDEZ
Pablo Hernandez: A slow start to his Swansea career has seen Hernandez’s value drop £0.4m. Do not be fooled, however; the ex-Valencia wide man is quickly warming to life in England. Liverpool fans were given a stark reminder of his quality on Wednesday night’s Carling Cup tie as Hernandez tore the Reds back-line apart. His on-field relationship with headline grabbing Michu also looked promising. Now could be the time to add Hernandez to your team for a cut-price £6.1m. Do it.
Javier Hernandez: While your mates (and rivals) may be licking their lips at the prospect of Van Persie and Wayne Rooney against a dismal Arsenal back-line, the Guru boldly suggests adding the other Hernandez to your team as well. The little Mexican is on fire at present and his goals are making it increasingly difficult for Sir Alex Ferguson to ignore him. If you’ve got Danny Welbeck in your team, now might be the time to haul him out and throw in Chicharito.
Nikica Jelavic: The Croatian has not gone three league games without a goal when in the starting XI since his move to Everton from Rangers in January. As two games have passed since his last Premiership goal, Jelavic is odds on to net this weekend.
Romelu Lukaku: The big Belgian is beginning to look a real handful in a Baggies shirt. He could easily have grabbed a hatrick last week against Newcastle had it not been for some inspired goalkeeping, but bagged himself 9 points regardless. With three league goals to his name already, Lukaku looks set for more first team action and is relatively cheap at £6.4m.
