White Hart Lane side plan another Ajax raid.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is looking to reunite defender Jan Vertonghen with his former Ajax team-mate Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgian pair were instrumental in helping the Amsterdam club to win back-to-back Eredivisie titles and play alongside each other at the back for their national team.
Centre back Alderweireld, 23, is rated among the best young defensive prospects in Europe and is likely to cost Tottenham £8million should they make a move in January.

Andre Villas-Boas apparently doesn’t believe William Gallas and Michael Dawson have a future at White Hart Lane and as such there is a need to strengthen the Tottenham defence and a move to sign adaptable defender Toby Alderweireld, who can play at right-back as well as in the centre of defence.
Buying Belgian has become the all the rage, indeed as well as snapping up Vertonghen the North London side also brought in Moussa Dembele from Fulham, now Villas-Boas wants to bring in a third member of the in-form national team.
23 year old Antwerp born defender Toby Alderweireld forged a good partnership with Jan Vertonghen, filling the void left by Thomas Vermaelen’s departure for Arsenal and he is a player Ajax boss Frank de Boer will not want to lose.
Having won back to back Eredivisie titles with Ajax the young defender may feel he has achieved all he can at the Amsterdam club.
