Old Trafford side keen on Danish international.
Manchester United and Chelsea have been given the green light to tie up a deal for Nordsjælland defender Jores Okore, after his agent admitted the player is ‘waiting for an offer’.
Ivory Coast-born Okore is currently regarded as the rising star of Danish football, having established himself as a regular in the Nordsjælland side, and picked up three caps for Denmark in the process.
United are known to have followed that recommendation up with several scouting missions, while Chelsea are also on the defender’s trail and are believed to be considering an offer.
Nordsjælland are expected to put up a fight to keep Okore, who signed a contract extension last year tying him to the club until 2016, but a bid of £5million should be enough to tempt them into selling.
Of the two sides named it is clear that Man United are in far more urgent need of defensive reinforcements and a move for Jores Okore would make a great deal of sense, especially if the Danish international can be picked up for as little as £5m.
Nemanja Vidic is out until Christmas and wasn’t all that comfortable when called upon this term. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are also sidelined. Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory either with Man United conceding 13 goals in nine Premier League matches thus far this season.
22 year old Ivory Coast born Okore is into his fourth season at Nordsjælland and helped them to a domestic title last term and as a result has had the chance to compete at Champions League level, bringing him to the attention of a larger audience.
