Stamford Bridge side suitably impressed on Fiorentina scouting mission.
Portuguese source Fichajes claim that Chelsea are plotting a move for Fiorentina attacker Steven Jovetic after Blues scouts were sufficiently impressed with the Montenegrin international’s efforts in the Serie A side’s emphatic win over Catania.
The West London side have been trailing the 23 year old for some time and saw Jovetic score and lay on an assist as the Florence side thumped their Sicilian opponents 4-1. Chelsea scouts were in attendance at the match as were representatives from PSG and Barcelona as the clamour for the young talent continues to grow.
Chelsea are on the look out for attacking reinforcements to help offer Roberto Di Matteo more options up front and Steven Jovetic’s form over the past 18 months has seen the former Partizan Belgrade forward attract a great deal of attention.
Last term the adaptable attacker, who can play in an attacking midfield role but has moved into a more orthodox striking position this term, scored 14 goals in 27 Serie A appearances last term and has notched up six in 11 matches during the current campaign, goals that have helped elevate Vincenzo Montella’s side into the top four.
Currently the Blues rely heavily on Fernando Torres for end product and that’s a situation Di Matteo is uncomfortable with, but not uncomfortable enough to show faith in England man Daniel Sturridge, who is yet to make a Premier League start this season.
Therefore the chase is on for a January addition, could that come in the form of €40m (£32m) rated Jovetic?
