Emirates Stadium side keen on Bundesliga based talent who could be tempted by move to North London club.
According to CalcioMercato Arsenal have set their sights on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.
The talented Swiss international is considered one of the best young talents in Europe and though he only moved to Germany six months ago the 20 year old midfielder may well be tempted by the chance to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Borussia Monchengladbach finished in the top four last term but have struggled for form during the current campaign and the fact that Lucien Favre’s side are sitting in mid-table may well aid Arsenal’s push to sign Xhaka, who this source states would cost the Gunners around €10m (£7.9m) to purchase.
Though Arsene Wenger has a host of talented central midfielders in his squad the fact that many of them have experienced lengthy spells on the sidelines may well play a part in the French boss’s decision making process.
Jack Wilshere has only just returned from injury, Abou Diaby has a persistent thigh problem and Tomas Rosicky is also currently unavailable. Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta have also spent spells out with knocks which could leave Wenger wanted to bring in reinforcements and clearly Xhaka is one for the future who can also make an impact in the short term.
Prior to his move to Germany Xhaka won back to back Swiss titles with FC Basel and already has ten national team caps to his name.
