Stamford Bridge side keen on Nou Camp forward.
CHELSEA are watching with interest as Barcelona star David Villa took another step towards exiting the Nou Camp.
With the Catalan giants keen on a deal for Atletico Madrid ace Falcao or Santos phenomenon Neymar, Villa’s sale would be used to bankroll their transfer activity.
Chelsea, who have dropped their own bid for Falcao after refusing to pay more than £40m, are likely to see Villa as the perfect foil for Spanish international team-mate Fernando Torres.

This source reports that Chelsea’s interest in the 30 year old Spaniard may be helped by another argument between David Villa and team-mate Lionel Messi, which is said to have occurred following Barcelona’s defeat at Celtic.
Chelsea may feel that Villa could help the Blues get the most out of Fernando Torres, the pair having work well alongside each other some years ago when they led the national team front-line.
Roberto Di Matteo is said to be keen on beefing up his attacking options and a move for the former Valencia man may prove more likely than the club’s continued pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao, who may well be keen to remain at the Vicente Calderon as they look to mount a genuine title challenge after a successful run of form in La Liga this season.
Villa hasn’t thrived as he would have liked since his move to Barcelona two and half years ago. At the Mestalla the lethal finisher scored 128 goals in 212 appearances but has managed a less prolific, but nonetheless commendable, 38 goals in 88 matches for the Catalan giants.
Under Tito Vilanova the forward is by no means a first choice starter, starting just five of the clubs 17 matches in all competitions this season, therefore a move to Chelsea may well tempt the striker.
