The Guru is back for your weekly dose of Fantasy Football advice, and is in a confident mood following a string of big calls!
PLAYER OF LAST GAMEWEEK
Peter Odemwingie: A Guru tip from Week 9, Odemwingie has adapted to a wider role under Baggies boss Steve Clarke and is starting to look like a real threat, after initially being overshadowed by hulking teenager Romelu Lukaku. Last weekend, West Brom’s most prolific Premier League goalscorer came good, grabbing both goals in a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Southampton. Those who gambled on the Nigerian were rewarded with 13 points.
TIPS OF THE WEEK
Antonio Valencia: The Ecuadorian is the main reason why Nani can never get a proper run in the Man Utd team. The ex-Wigan man is a figure of consistency and has proved his fitness with three straight starts. A guaranteed assist merchant, Valencia is capable of chipping in with a few goals. Due to an early season injury, the winger’s value had dropped £0.4m. Bargain time.
Arouna Kone: The Guru loves this guy. Wigan, yet again, are impressing under Roberto Martinez as they look to avoid another final day relegation scrap. Kone, a tip from Week 1, has been a revelation, filing the speedy boots of Victor Moses with ease. Kone was sensational against Spurs last week, as Wigan claimed all three points. Perfect for those on a tight budget, so get him in before the goals start to flow.
Phil Jagielka: Jagielka has developed into one of England’s finest centre halves under David Moyes. The key to picking defenders is judging consistency of clean sheets. While not water tight at the back, Everton will dominate enough teams this year to keep opposistion goal tallies down. With low-scoring Sunderland visiting Goodison Park this weekend, Jagielka looks set for a 6 point minimum, and will be a threat attacking corners as well.
