Old Trafford side keen on unhappy Bernabeu star.
Karim Benzema to finally make United move after ‘unhappy’ Real admission?
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema could be on Manchester United’s shopping list this January, after revealing he is frustrated at sitting on the bench.
The French international has been at the Bernabeu since 2009, following his transfer from Lyon, but has often found himself playing second fiddle to the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo.
And he told French newspaper L’Equipe that he feels he is challenged by his manager Jose Mourinho, but gets frustrated at spending longer periods on the bench than he does playing.
‘Of course, I want to play more. I’ve spent more time on the bench than I have on the pitch since the season began, but I’m going to keep fighting and make the most of the minutes I get,’ he said.
This source goes on to state that Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to make a move for the Real Madrid forward, who cost the Spanish giants £33m in the summer of 2009.
Indeed the French international has stated publicly that Man United have unsuccessfully tried to sign him in each of the past four seasons, perhaps it’s time for fifth time lucky?
One would have to wonder though if Man United need another striker, with the likes of Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez already in Ferguson’s armoury is there really need to fork out big money for another forward?
The Old Trafford side have scored a massive 29 goals in 11 Premier League matches, the most in the top tier by some distance, Ferguson may be better off trying to fix his leaky defence rather than targeting the Real Madrid forward.
That said, Benzema has every right to feel he has earned the right to be in Jose Mourinho’s first team line-up on a regular basis, he did after all notch up 32 goals last term as Real Madrid clinched the domestic title.
