Anfield side close in on giant forward.
According to Russian source Izvestia Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Anzhi Makhachkala forward Lacina Traore.
This source states that a deal has ‘in principal’ been reached between the Anfield side the Dagestan based side to complete a move for the giant striker either in January or next summer with the player said to be worth an estimated €12m (£9.5m).
Whilst there is no denying that Brendan Rodgers could well do with attacking alternatives one would have to wonder how an 6ft 8in forward would fit into the Liverpool’s boss’s style of play, not least as Andy Carroll was loaned out to West Ham due to his apparent unsuitability for a forward role at the Merseyside club.
Traore moved to Anzhi from fellow Russian Premier League side Kuban Krasnodar in the summer and has been something of a success, netting 12 goals in 20 appearances, including the winner against Liverpool in their Europa League encounter earlier this month.
Currently Rodgers has just one fit senior striker available for selection, Luis Suarez, after Fabio Borini injured his foot.
Therefore a new striker may well be on the Liverpool boss’s radar but is this void about to be filled with a move for Lacina Traore?
