Alves urged Neymar to make move to Europe.
Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has heaped praise on Brazilian star Neymar but warned that he still has room for improvement, reports fanatix.
Asked to compare the Santos forward to his club teammate Lionel Messi – widely considered to be the finest player on the planet – Alves was complimentary of his compatriot but urged him to take the next step by moving to Europe.
“The only difference between these two great players, is that Messi plays in Europe and Neymar in Brazil. He [Neymar] is a great player, but he doesn’t have the tactical discipline and maturity nor the responsibility of knowing he is important within the team. Neymar should take this step by coming to Europe…since he still needs to be ‘educated’ football-wise.”
Alves’ remark echoes recent similar comments made by ex-footballers Cafu and Ronaldo. The Neymar saga continues to drag on and only time will tell when he will finally take the plunge and make the move to football’s biggest scene.
Neymar has been widely linked with a move to join Alvest at Barcelona, with some reports even suggesting that the Catalans had agreed a first-option deal with Santos, which would see the forward move to Catalonia after the World Cup in 2014.
