Snoop Dogg wants to invest in Celtic and bring David Beckham to Parkhead.
US rap star Snoop Dogg – sorry, we mean Snoop Lion – wants to invest in Celtic, claiming he can “bring a bit of Snoop” to the Glasgow club.
The actor and singer also says that he wants to sign David Beckham from Los Angeles Galaxy but accepts it could be difficult to lure Golden Balls star to Scotland.
“I don’t need to run a soccer club but [I would want] enough of a percentage to get me on the board so I can be heard,” he told the Daily Record.
“I got a lot of interest in soccer … [and] I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team.”
Celtic’s recent 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League is apparently what prompted Snoop Lion’s interest.
“Barcelona are a big deal, and it shows Celtic are a big deal as well,” he said, and singled out Giorgios Samaras out for individual praise, calling him “a proper athlete [and] pretty dangerous player.”
“If we are to go far in Europe, [Samaras] needs to play well,” concluded Snoop.
“The boxes at Celtic would never be the same once I have hosted a party there,” added the 41 year-old, as if that would clinch the deal.
Bringing his friend David Beckham to Parkhead would likely impress Celtic bosses and fans somewhat more.
“We have lunch when we can, so next time, you know, I am going to speak to him about it,” he said. “LA is home for him and his family now – but I would have to at least make that offer to my boy… Never say never.”
