Rodgers lining-up Rossi switch.
Liverpool could resurrect their move for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi in January, according to the Metro.
Brendan Rodgers is looking at the currently injured Italian international as a cut-price option to boost his strike-force.
Villarreal were relegated from La Liga at the end of last season, with three reasons commonly cited.
The first was the sale of Santi Cazorla to Malaga CF, who is now impressing at Arsenal.
The second was the injuries suffered by Rossi, and the third was the lack of finance to adequately replace either player.
Former Manchester United star Rossi has been out of action for the long term with knee ligament trouble, and looks likely to only be available from March.
With that in mind, and the fact that his hefty salary is weighing down Villarreal’s books, Liverpool could find themselves with a bargain in the January sales.
So long as he can fully recovery from his serious knee injuries, Rossi could become one of the most feared forward players in Europe again.
