Loftus Road side set sights on Emirates Stadium duo.
QPR will reportedly launch a bid to sign Arsenal pair Marouane Chamakh and Johan Djourou as Mark Hughes looks to further strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.
The Welsh boss was backed heavily by Tony Fernandes over the summer and the QPR owner is ready to once again back the under fire manager with significant funds to boost a squad that is in deep trouble having failed to win a single one of their opening dozen Premier League fixtures.
Many had predicted that QPR would fare better this term after a number of high profile additions were made to a squad that narrowly escaped the drop last term. The likes of Park Ji-Sung, Ryan Nelsen, Andy Johnson, Junior Hoilett, Julio Cesar and Esteban Granero arrived in the summer transfer window but Hughes’s new look side have struggled for form.
Arsene Wenger has seemingly decided that Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh is surplus to requirements with the former Bordeaux man yet to play a single minute of Premier League football and Hughes will look to lure the 28 year old to West London as he seeks to boost an attack that has managed just nine goals in 12 Premier League matches.
Hughes is also looking to strengthen his back-line and sees adaptable Swiss international Johan Djourou as a useful option to boost his defence.
The 25 year old has racked up over 100 first team appearances for the Gunners but as Arsene Wenger has the likes of Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny to call upon as central defensive options and multiple options to fill full-back spots Djourou is struggling to get a foot into the first team door.
Wenger may feel that he could afford to offload both players to clear their wage packets off the balance sheet and make room for possible additions to his Emirates Stadium squad.
