Emirates Stadium side set to improve threadbare attack in January.
According to German source Pressportal.de Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is likely to make a January move to join North London side Arsenal.
This source quotes a respected Dutch journalist who represents Sky who states that as far as he is aware a deal that would see the 29 year old striker join the Gunners is set for completion.
Huntelaar has resurrected his career over the past two and a half years in the Bundesliga after suffering poor spells at Real Madrid and AC Milan.
The former Ajax man has scored 69 goals in 97 appearances for Schalke but appears reticent to sign a new contract and as the striker is out of contract in the summer it seems entirely possible that a move to the Premier League could tempt Huntelaar.
Though Olivier Giroud has started to show real signs of improvement Arsene Wenger doesn’t have all that many alternative attacking options and a move to sign an experienced campaigner like Huntelaar ‘on the cheap’ appears to good an opportunity for the Arsenal boss to resist.
Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh appears to be surplus to requirements and loaned out strike pair Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young do not appear to have much of a future at Arsenal, hence the need to reinforce the club’s attack.
