Goodison Park side attempt hopeful move for Russian international.
Spanish source Marca are reporting that Everton have failed in a €6m (£4.8m) bid for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev.
The highly rated 21 year old has spent nine years at Real Madrid’s books but is yet to make a single senior appearance for the first team but this has not prevented the talented wide-man from winning a call up to the Russian national team.
Cheryshev is highly regarded and Real Madrid’s decision to turn down any reported Everton bid for his services is perhaps more down to the potential he possesses rather than an attempt to secure a better fee from any prospective suitor.
Everton had previously successfully brought in Royston Drenthe on a loan spell from the Spanish giants but it appears that Jose Mourinho may deem Cheryshev as a player for the future.
The Portuguese boss has appeared to make a more concerted effort to blood young talents this term with the likes of Raphael Varane, Alvaro Morata, José Rodríguez and Nacho Fernandez getting first team action this season.
