Anfield side keen on Nou Camp starlet.
AC Milan look set to rival Liverpool for Cristian Tello with a January bid for the Barcelona winger.
Tello, 21, opened talks over a new contract at the Nou Camp earlier this season but he is yet to reach an agreement.
Liverpool were strongly linked with the youngster during the summer, but failed to bring him to Anfield.
The 21-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, has found the back of the net twice in eight league outings this season, and he is now attracting interest from AC Milan.
Sources in Italy claim the San Siro side are weighing up a £6.5m offer for Tello in January, although they could attempt to lure him to Italy on a free transfer in the summer.
Cristian Tello would fit Liverpool’s youthful ethos and there is perhaps a chance that the youngster’s demands are preventing him from securing a new Barcelona contract and that stubbornness could then lead Barcelona to consider offers for the 21 year old in January over the possibility of losing the Spanish Under 21 international for nothing next summer.
Rodgers could well do with further attacking options and the adaptable attacker certainly has the potential to make an impact away from Barcelona.
Last term Tello broke into the Nou Camp first team and didn’t look out of place, causing all sorts of problems for opposing defences, most commonly when in a wide attacking role. This season he has figured a fair bit under new boss Tito Vilanova, which makes talk of a potential exit all that more confusing.
The local born youngster netted seven goals in 22 appearances last term, of which most were coming from the bench and Tello already has three goals to his name this season and would be well worth the reported £6.5m fee.
Rodgers has seen youngster Raheem Sterling and Suso impress in wide roles since being thrown in at the deep end at Liverpool but the lack of strength in depth in his Anfield squad could be the difference between a good season and a coveted top four finish, hence their apparent interest in the Spanish starlet.
