Anfield side target Internacional hotshot.
Italian source Gazetta dello Sport report that Liverpool have joined a rapidly expanding group of sides interested in Brazilian international Leandro Damiao.
The Internacional forward is being tracked by a number of clubs, most notably Italian giants AC Milan & Juventus as well as fellow Premier League side Tottenham but Brendan Rodgers will hope to bring in the prolific forward to pair with Luis Suarez in his Anfield attack.
The Uruguayan has been shouldering Liverpool’s goal-scoring burden pretty much single-handedly over the past 18 months and is the Premier League’s top scorer this term with ten goals. Rodgers has very few alternative options or possible strike partners for the former Ajax man, a situation further exacerbated by the foot injury suffered by summer signing Fabio Borini.
Damiao’s record of 74 goals in 126 appearances for Internacional has led to a number of prospective suitors taking an interest in his services.
A number of Premier League sides scouted Damiao during the 2012 Olympic Football tournament, where the Brazilian finished as top scorer with six goals.
