Stadium of Light boss looks to raid former employer’s.
Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill is heading the chase for Celtic’s Gary Hooper, writes the Sunday People.
Black Cats boss Martin O’Neill wants to strenghten his strikeforce and believes Hooper fits the bill.
The 24-year-old front man has been at Parkhead since 2010 after a prolific spell at Scunthorpe.
And O’Neill, who managed the Bhoys for five years, plans to swoop in January to ease the burden on Scot Steven Fletcher.

Martin O’Neill may well feel that another striker signing is needed to help ease Sunderland’s relegation fears but will Gary Hooper deem a move to the Stadium of Light a move worth making?
The Black Cats defeat at home to West Brom leaves them near the drop zone and given Celtic’s good form in the Champions League and the likelihood of another SPL title perhaps the 24 year old forward will stick with his Parkhead side.
Neil Lennon is sure to fight off advances for Hooper, who has netted 11 goals in 20 appearances this season, and only offers of significant value would be considered.
One would also imagine that if Celtic do qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League then it’s even less likely any star turns would look to make a January exit from the Glasgow side.
