Roma midfielder on his way to the Etihad Stadium?
MANCHESTER CITY are closing in on £25m Italian World Cup winner Daniele de Rossi.
Roma midfielder De Rossi was a surprise guest at City’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with his partner Sarah.
And Starsport understands the 29-year-old held talks with the club about a January transfer.
City have been trying for months to sign De Rossi, who turned down a move to the Etihad last summer.

Roberto Mancini has been pursuing Daniele De Rossi for the best part of a year and any suggestion that the purchase of Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell over the summer would bring Man City’s interest in the Roma man to an end have been firmly answered in the negative.
The 29 year old is apparently closing in on a move to the Etihad Stadium and given the fact that he was stupidly sent off for punching a Lazio player during the Rome derby, such a move seems to be even more likely. Stadio Olimpico boss Zdenek Zeman publicly admonished the midfielder’s behaviour and the pair don’t get on by all accounts.
£25m is perhaps a hefty fee for a player closing in on 30 years of age but clearly Roma know that Man City have deep pockets and De Rossi will probably be keen on a new challenge having spent his entire career at the Serie A club, seeing the Giallorossi finish as domestic runners-up on no less than five occasions.
