Sean Morrison

Arsene Wenger looks to bring young top tier defender to the Emirates Stadium.

ARSENAL are keeping tabs on highly-rated Reading youngster Sean Morrison.

Imposing centre-half Morrison, 21, only made his Premier League debut this month.

But he has already made a big impression in his six league and cup appearances this season – including a Capital One cup tie against the Gunners – and caught the eye of Arsene Wenger’s scouts.

The idea of interest in up and coming Reading defender Sean Morrison is perhaps sound but the idea that Arsenal will have been impressed by the 21 year old’s performance against the Gunners is harder to swallow.

One can’t imagine that Arsene Wenger would turn to his backroom staff and say ‘That Morrison fellow, he was really good tonight…despite the fact the Royals conceded seven!’.

The Gunners boss has three established centre-backs to pick from at present; Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker but back-up options Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci are of limited ability so there is perhaps some scope for bringing in a younger option who could grow into the role.

Morrison has on the whole impressed since breaking into the Royals first team and appears to have a bright future, could that future take him to the North London club?
